The 2021 Giro d'Italia has officially finished and a winner has been crowned. As expected, this year's race did not disappoint. Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) was able to hold on to victory and take home the pink jersey through the final time trial in Milan, won by teammate Filippo Ganna.
Damiano Caruso (Bahrain-Victorious) and Simon Yates (Team BikeExchange) took home second and third respectively finishing at 1-29 and 4-15.
The Maglia Rosa or Pink Jersey Classification: Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers)
*Awarded to the rider who makes it around the route faster than anyone else. Whoever wins the stage will wear the jersey on the next stage, leading the overall or general classification with a certain gap to the next rider
Other classification winners completed before the stage 21 time trial included:
Purple Ciclamino Points Jersey Classification: Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe)
*Awarded to the rider who collects the most points over the race.
Blue Mountains Jersey Classification: Geoffrey Bouchard (Ag2r-Citroën)
*Awarded to the rider as many mountains points as they possibly can (speed & consistency)
Young Rider Jersey Classification: Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers)
*Awarded in the same way pink jersey is, but only for riders who were born after January 1, 1996 (under 25) can compete for it.
Team Classification Jersey: Ineos Grenadiers (in 256-30-31)
*Awarded by calculating the lowest cumulative time of the three best-placed riders from each team.
