American Fork Canyon Lunch Ride

AF Canyon Lunch Rides

Being based out of Utah, we're fortunate to have the opportunity to leave work and ride some incredible trails ten minutes away from our offices. This past July we did just that. We took Branson our media producer, Grant our website editor and me to American Fork Canyon to explore some trails in our back yard.

We started by riding up to one of our favorite trails in AF Canyon called "Ridge 157". Ridge provides a unique high alpine experience. Miles of uncrowded mountain bike terrain. We were fortunate to be the only humans up there that day as well which made for some fun riding.

After a pretty brutal and hot climb of 1,600 ft. we made it to the summit. Which called for some high-speed enduro riding down the trail. With speeds reaching 30mph+ Ridge is always a trail that keeps you guessing. Towards the bottom is where the more techy descents begin. In the section of the trail called "Mud Springs," we start to see more exposure on the trail with big rocks and roots. Our beefy 160mm enduro bikes were the perfect caliber for the gnarly trail.
Despite the unusually wet spring and intense winter season, the trails have turned from mud to dust in a matter of weeks. Rain and moisture keep the trails firm. The dusty conditions make this trail a new experience every time we ride it.

After the ride was over, we drove down the canyon and returned to our offices to finish up the day's work.
